Technical Information regarding Feed Ingredients Originating from Animal Protein
Animal Protein
Our products originating from animal sources come from our approved facilities working in name and style of M/s ‘SYED FISH’ located in Industrial area of Ibraheem Haidery Karachi (Pakistan). The two factories are approved and registered with Government of Pakistan Department of Animal Quarantine, Ministry of Food Security. The two factories are respectively producing Cattle Bone Meal (since 1989) and Poultry Meal since 2021.
The Department of Animal Quarantine approved and registered one of the factories for export quality production of Cattle Bone Meal in 2004 and granted license under Registration No.014-AQD-SF and promulgated it vide Government Letter F.5-12/90-AQD(373) dated 3rd September 2004. The factory for production Poultry Meal was approved for production of export quality Poultry Meal in 2025 and granted license under Registration No.01-ADQ-(Poultry Meal)-SF.
Processed Animal Protein
Processed Animal Protein (PAP) is a general term for high-protein animal feed ingredients made by rendering animal by-products (the parts of an animal not typically consumed by humans). It is essentially a cooked, dried, and ground powder used primarily to provide protein and energy in animal diets.
PAP is produced from animal by-products, which are parts of a slaughtered animal that are not used for direct human consumption. These include:
- Carcass trimmings: Fat, bone, and meat trimmings from slaughterhouses. Cattle bones are rendered to produce meat and bone meal and refined bone meal powder.
- Offal: Internal organs like lungs, liver, kidneys, and spleen of slaughtered poultry.
- Poultry Feathers: Hydrolysed (broken down with steam heat and pressure) to become digestible protein known as feather meal.
The Production Process “Rendering”: Rendering is the process that converts raw by-products into PAP. The main steps in processing are:
- Cutting: The raw materials are cut into small pieces for balanced and effective heat treatment.
- Cooking: The material is heated to high temperatures (often under pressure) to kill pathogens (bacteria, viruses) and make digestible and to separate fat from protein and bone.
- Pressing & Separating: The cooked material is pressed to remove the tallow (animal fat). The remaining solid material is the “protein meal” in form of solid cake.
- Drying and Grinding: The solid cake is dried and ground into a fine, uniform powder, which is the final PAP product.
Our Production Facilities
The production machinery at our two factories is a combination of local and imported components approved by Animal Quarantine Department that are fit and suitable for producing quality products keeping in view biosecurity and hygiene. This process ensures the product is stable, safe from microbial decay, and easy to store and transport. The production facilities and production process is certified under HACCP, ISO-14000 and ISO-9000 to ensure highest quality of produced feed ingredients
Use of Our Products:
Processed animal protein [PAP] is a valuable ingredient in the animal feed industry because it is:
- High in Protein:It typically contains 50-70% highly digestible protein.
- A Source of Energy:It has a high energy density.
- Rich in Amino Acids: It provides essential amino acids like lysine and methionine, which are crucial for growth.
- A Source of Minerals: Especially meat and bone meal, which is rich in calcium and phosphorus.
- Economically viable. Addition of PAP in feed is a very effective balancing factor to work out cost of produced feed.
